Why we started Synergy Search.
I am often asked: why would I leave a Fortune 500 Staffing firm where I spent the last 13.5 years? On one hand, I had incredible success, had an all but guaranteed very lucrative salary, along with all the comforts of an established name brand, including a team of lifelong friendships, generous benefits and more. For years I talked myself out of breaking away, even though it was a daily dream of mine to start my own firm and prove that I could crush it as I had been for many years in corporate America. For many years I thought the same thing, yet I could not justify leaving. Heck – I have 2 kids, a wife, a mortgage, and all the reasons not to do it. Leaving my former employer meant starting over due to a 1 year non-compete and walking away from over a decade of building one of the largest books of business globally for a very big unknown. Not to mention the incredible relationships that I have come to value more than it all.
So how did a dream become a reality? Especially during a global pandemic!?
Honestly – it all seems so surreal and happened so fast.
Deciding to leave with Mark and Gary to form Synergy Search was one of the most difficult decisions that we had ever made. Yet, very quickly into the process, it has proven to be the best decision any of us could have made in our professional career and has already proven to be an incredible value driver for clients. The freedom we now have to help clients with anything they need, regardless of location, job title, or type of need is an incredible feeling. No longer having to introduce a client to someone that does not know their company like I do, or the ins-and-outs of the history of the hiring relationship, just because the need is outside of my territory is so valuable. I can now personally be involved regardless of the need. The freedom to invest in technology that directly helps us deliver for our candidates and clients is already paying off. Best yet, the team is reinvigorated beyond belief. Uprooting my life, my routine, my comforts has been a shock to the system for sure, but in an amazing way! We are hungrier than ever, more focused than ever, and ready to deliver for our clients and candidates.
We have been working very hard behind the scenes to build something that we can all be incredibly proud of. We are honored to introduce the world to Synergy Search and can’t wait to show you what our 35 years of combined experience can deliver for you. Our initial focus will be Tennessee, the Carolinas, and Western New York. We look forward to delivering the best of the best to those regions as we have for so many years in the Maryland area.
